Collaborate Design Studio recently took
part in the Arts Revolution at New Trier High School. This program,
a daylong celebration of the arts, provided students the opportunity
to explore how the arts can create connections between different
disciplines and experiences.
Students attended two 85-minute
workshops of their choice in the areas of Design, Architecture and
Engineering, Music, Dance and Movement, Visual Art, and Theatre.
Over 25 of these arts-related educational workshops were offered.
Sue Behringer presented a workshop on
Interior Design to approximately 75 students. Her program included
an overview of the profession, color theory, and space planning. In
addition, each student designed a bedroom, which included the
choosing and placement of furniture, selecting fabrics for window
treatments and bed coverings, and determining wall colors. Students
created a floor plan of their design, as well as a coordinating color
board to show their selections.
Sue was pleased with the way the day
went. She indicated that the students participated and were
enthusiastic, which made for a very positive experience.
